In the village of At-Bashi, Naryn district, a workshop for the production of essential oil and drying of medicinal plants was launched, reported the regional correspondent of Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

The project was implemented by the UN World Food Program with the support of the Japanese government. The workshop can process up to three tons of herbs per day.

More than a thousand local residents were trained to plant chamomile, valerian, calendula, sage and mint so that they would provide the workshop with raw materials. Currently there are 10 people working there, during the season – up to 35. The workshop’s products will be used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
